There are different variations of Hada Labo Hokujyun and this post is only centered to the Light Lotion variation. First, let us understand what this product is for and its claims.
PRODUCT DESCRIPTION: Instantly hydrate your skin. While it looks clear like a toner or makeup remover, it’s actually a moisturizer that helps prepare your skin for better absorption of other HADA LABO products. The HADA LABO Goku-jyun Lotion Light can also be used as a standalone moisturizer with a lighter texture than HADA LABO Goku-jyun Lotion.
INGREDIENTS: Water, Dipropylene Glycol Dimethyl Ether, Alcohol, Glycerin, Disodium Succinate, Hydrolyzed Hyaluronic Acid, Methylparaben, PPG-10 Methyl Glucose Ether, Sodium Acetylated Hyaluronate, Sodium Hyaluronate, Succinic Acid
When it comes to the brand Hada Labo, the popular used ingredient in their products is Hyaluronic Acid (HA). Hada Labo Gokujyun Light Lotion Review
This product was tested for 6 months. The review is categorized to packaging, price and amount, consistency, upsides, and downsides for more clarity.

Packaging, Price, and Amount
The packaging of this product is easy to store, but since this is the light version, which is a more liquid type compared to its counterparts, then it could be hard to travel with. The bottle is medium size that is looks decent enough. Although the writings on the bottle are all in japanese, it still looks pretty neat.
The amount that you get, which is 170 ml, is fair for its price. This product is not too expensive considering how much you get from it. I have used this product for more or less 6 months every night, and there is still a lot of amount left.
Consistency
The consistency of this product is very interesting! Since this product is called “Light Lotion”, I expected it to be a gel type or maybe a lightweight cream. But no! It is actually liquid. However, it is also not as runny as a water.
The Upsides
I had a lot of expectations from this product since it is reviewed a lot by beauty influencers. The first time I tried the product, my skin felt smooth! I used this as a moisturizer alone and mix it with my fingers then directly put it in my face. This product is great if you really are looking for a light moisturizer. It doesn’t make me sweat as well since it is not heavy at all.
As someone with a combination skin (oily to dry/ dry to normal), this benefits more on my oilier side of skin. This variant is actually recommended for oily skin! If you are dry, get the Lotion version without the Light. Since this moisturizer is really lightweight, it doesn’t make me feel greasy even though I live in a humid and hot country.
The Downsides
Sad to say, this product did not really work on me and I stopped using it. This did make my skin feel smoother, but this product breaks my skin out. I used it for a long time because it actually DOES make the skin feel extra smooth. However, I’ve been breaking out for the past months and my acne only disappeared when I stopped using this product.
As much as I would like to keep this product, it does irritate the drier part of my skin which is around my nose. That is also the most sensitive part of my face. My skin had a lot of mixed reactions but I finally decided to stop using this product when I tried a new moisturizer.
Although my oily skin loved the lightweight feeling of the Gokujyun Light Lotion, I had to switch to a better moisturizer for my skiny. My drier side of skin, which is mostly around my cheeks, its often drying out. That means that it is too light to moisturize my dry skin. For the most part, I took that in consideration since this Gokujyun Light Lotion is meant for oilier skin.

Conclusion for Hada Labo Gokujyun Light Lotion Review
Summing everything, I give this product a 3.5/5 based on my experience. Even though my experience was not that great, this Gokujyun Light Lotion could work better for those with oily skin. Because of the high amount of hyaluronic acid, it can give your skin a boost for smoother skin.
Avoid this product if you have a drier and sensitive skin, but you can also try their HADA LABO Gokujyun Lotion that is more meant for your skin type. So to answer the question, “Is it really effective?” the answer is yes and no! Yes if you have oily skin, otherwise its a no.
