Discover My Skin
Skin types could possibly change especially if you are living in a place where it gets cold and hot frequently. You could be feeling greasy today and dry on the next day. Don’t worry, you are not the only one experiencing that and luckily, Beauty with Karla has come up with a way to possibly sum up all your skin questions and help you analyze your skin type.
To make things easier, this process will be cut down into 3 STEPS only making sure that in the end of this blog, you will finally know what you are and to make it easier to buy skincare products.
STEP 1: Experiment
I call this first step experiment because we are going to be experimenting with your skin. Firstly, you have to wash your face with a facial cleanser. It will be better to use gentle cleansers to achieve the utmost results, but any cleanser that you have now will do. Wash your face like how you would normally do and then rinse after. Remember to pat dry without dragging your skin with a towel or paper towel.
After washing your face, do not use any products and wait for step 2. That’s it! You have finished the first step, pretty easy right? Now get yourself ready for the Step 2.
STEP 2: Observe
In this step, I need you to observe your skin in the next 2 hours. Make sure that you did not put anything like moisturizers, toners, or any kind to see the real results. The reason behind this is for you to know what your skin really is just after washing it. If you used a mild and gentle cleanser, it will help you observe your skin better than using stronger cleansers that could affect your results later on.
That is it for Step 2! Make sure that you waited for approximately 2 hours before heading to Step 3!
STEP 3: Examine
This is the part where you’ll finally know your skin type, so take note of the following… These are the possible results that you can get after waiting for 2 hours:
- skin tightening/flaky skin
- skin is feeling greasy
- skin is irritated, red or itchy
- skin is both greasy or dry/tight
- skin feels normal
So after you have examined your skin, you can check here below the skin type that you have based from your experience.
Your Observation | Your Skin Type |
---|---|
skin tightening/flaky skin | Dry Skin |
skin is feeling greasy | Oily Skin |
skin is irritated, red or itchy | Sensitive Skin |
skin is both greasy or dry/tight | Combination Skin |
skin feels normal | Normal Skin |
Conclusion,
Do you now know your skin type? If yes, congratulations! Not that hard to find out, huh? If not, then I still have something for you that could help you out more if you still feel uncertain. See the summarized bullets below:
- If you are constantly blotting and your skin always looks shiny throughout the day, then you are most likely oily skin.
- If your skin feels and looks rough, with slight to severe peeling or scaling, then you are dry skin.
- If you feel oily in your T-zone (forehead, nose, and chin) and dry everywhere else, then you have combination skin.
- If you feel stinging, burning, or itchiness in your skin especially when using products, then you have sensitive skin.
- If you are feeling balanced, neither dry or oily and does not really breakout, then you have normal skin.
